After being natural for almost 10 years and struggling with the daily maintenance and growth of my coiled hair strands, I commenced my hair care routine to natural products with simple ingredients created in my kitchen. I also incorporated "low manipulation" hairstyles, like plats and buns; many 4c textured women move towards. These changes made a noticeable difference in the look and feel of my hair and were the start of a simplified hair system.
On days I had little time to stretch and style my hair, I would wear wigs, keeping my hair braided and protected underneath. With the density of my hair, the wigs I bought from stores were often too tight around my head and uncomfortable to wear all day. I would usually have to alter the hairpieces to wear it. I decided one day to create a wig with more stretch and worked for my head size. I found I had created a wig that could fit many different head sizes and was extremely breathable.
In 2016 I founded Elon Blu, a packaged haircare system of natural hair products and wigs for women who grapple with the daily maintenance of their hair texture. This system allows women to grow out their hair discretely while maintaining their health through nourishment of natural ingredients and protective styling.
Through the work I do through this company and through my own personal experiences gained over the years, I hope to bring inspiration to those around me. As I grow, I believe it is my responsibility to share what I've learned with others and, in time, help expand new ideas into the world.
